Why did an architecture firm start an art gallery?

As architects, we are passionate about creating functional and beautiful spaces. Aesthetics are an important part of our design process, which also makes us artists. NewStudio Architecture has always had an appreciation for other art mediums. When we moved to our new location in St. Paul, we finally had the space to bring this dream to life: NewStudio Gallery.

NewStudio Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located within the offices of NewStudio Architecture in the Creative Enterprise Zone in St. Paul, Minnesota. NewStudio Gallery showcases local women and BIPOC artists, as well as artists unfamiliar to Twin Cities audiences, who are working in diverse media. Our mission is curating exhibitions that add to the artistic and cultural richness of the Twin Cities, and showing work that speaks to aesthetic, environmental, political, and cultural concerns of the moment.
